The Cabbage Soup Diet: Work off A Few Pounds In a week

   

Foods that are so low in calories that they require more energy to digest than they ever had are said to be negative calorie foods. Cabbage is a food with negative calories, giving the name to the Cabbage Soup Diet. This is a diet for short term use to enable a dieter to lose some extra weight quickly. Some using this diet are seeking a quick start to their weight loss before they begin a completely different diet. Some dieters use it to lose weight rapidly before attending an essential event.

The diet is named after the soup that makes up a large portion of the diet. The more of it that is eaten by the dieter, the fewer calories the dieter has to turn into fat. The allowed foods to go along with the soup are few. The diet’s basic plan is a seven-day formula for weight loss. The diet does not endorse adding substitutions to the foods that are mentioned. The dieter should also be drinking water each day while on the diet.

The first day of the diet is marked by eating only cabbage soup and fruit. The dieter drinks unsweetened items such as tea, coffee and cranberry juice. On the diet’s second day, vegetables can be eaten in any quantity, as long as they are not beans, peas or corn. There is no fruit the second day, but there is as much soup as the dieter cares to eat. The dieter can eat any fruits or vegetables on the diet’s third day. The only exclusion from these is baked potatoes.

For the fourth day of the diet, bananas and skim milk are the only foods to be eaten aside from the soup. The dieter can eat up to eight bananas on that day. The banana and skim milk idea is to keep the dieter from craving sweet things. The dieter can finally eat something different on the diet’s fifth day. This day allows the dieter to eat beef, fish or skinless chicken weighing up to 20 ounces and as many as six tomatoes. To keep the body from building up too much uric acid, the dieter must drink six or more glasses of water and eat one or more bowls of soup.

Day six consists of liberal amount of beef and unlimited vegetables. One serving of soup is required, but baked potatoes are forbidden. On day seven, the diet calls for fruit juices without extra sweeteners, brown rice in any quantity and unlimited vegetables. At least one serving of soup is required. Drinking any sodas while on the diet is not allowed. The Cabbage Soup regimen also disallows drinking alcohol and eating any bread.

Weight loss is caused by this diet. However, the diet does not include many of the necessary nutrients that we need every say. Because of this, the diet is only intended to be a short regimen to lose weight, and not a lifetime diet.

Seems pretty sound if you don’t mind the taste of cabbage. I think it can be doctored up with herbs, etc. to taste pretty good. I’m going to try some version of this diet. I’ve never heard of the different menus on different days, only the as much soup as you want version.

I’ll report back my results for all who are interested.
